Deborah Mercier, Ph.D: Director/Owner:   My first teaching assignment was a ten-year adventure in the public school system at the junior high level.  I taught English, reading, and English as a Second Language.  I also served as a Title One Teacher and the school’s Reading Specialist.  I founded team in 1980 because of my interest in students who have learning disabilities and/or Attention Deficit Disorder.  Over the years I have also served as an interim principal and assistant principal at a large parochial (K-8) school.  I am currently an Associate Professor of Education at Concordia University, Irvine where I teach graduate level courses in literacy acquisition.  I hold a Standard Secondary Teaching Credential in English and Geography and a Reading Specialist Credential for grades K-Community College.  I earned a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master of Science Degree in Reading from California State University, Fullerton, and a Ph.D. in Education from Claremont Graduate University.

 

Academic Coach/Administrator Susan: Susan is TEAM's manager.  In addition to academic coaching she runs the office, does the scheduling, and spends lots of time on the phone assisting parents.  Susan has been with TEAM since 2000.  She has teaching experience with a wide variety of students and age groups, ages 5-adult.  Susan earned her BA in English Literature at College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, New York.  She holds a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and a Master of Science Degree in Education/Reading from California State University, Fullerton.

Academic Coach Dave: Coach Dave is celebrating his tenth year of working with TEAM's students.  Dave has a BA in psychology from USC and earned a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential through California State University, Fullerton.  In his spare time Dave is a substitute teacher for the Placentia-Yorba Linda School District. Coach Dave enjoys teaching English, math, social science, and science.

 

Academic Coach Rachel: Rachel holds a Bachelor of Biological Science Degree from Chapman University where she is pursuing graduate studies for a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Rachel assists TEAM students who are taking higher math, science, and literature courses.
